Art fans might know a bit about Swedish contemporary practitioners, but the 18th century walls of the Embassy of Sweden’s London headquarters are a set of interiors rarely glimpsed by your average gallery visitor.

Visions of glittering chandeliers and chocolate-brandishing butlers aside, the display itself is a mixed media one starring Kent Karlsson – a sculptor aiming to pose a question or two to passers-by on their way to Frieze – and Emanuel Röhss, a vivid painter who’s responded in site-specific fashion to the swanky setting.
Both artists studied at the Valand School of Art in Gothenburg, a city known as Little London during its Anglo-Swedish trade escalation during the 19th century. And their cause, they say, is an “extrovert exploration” of modern times.
- Open October 11 6pm-9pm, October 13 2pm-5pm, otherwise by appointment, email rsvp@orioncontemporary.com.
