Exhibition: On Form, Asthall Manor, Asthall, until July 15 2012

Weather gripes aside, sculpture shows are rarely as picturesque as this. Hosted in a Jacobean house and garden in the Cotswolds, 28 sculptors present more than 100 works within the landscaped scenery, nestling in romantic wildflower meadows, hiding within thick woodland, rising above the parterre or forming centrepieces inside the manor’s ballroom.

Each artist takes it in turn to invigilate on a daily basis, overseeing works in granite, marble, limestone and various other materials in both figurative and abstract form. They’re inspired by the natural world, Ancient Greece and contemporary architecture.

A special accompanying café, The Thyme, also pops up, described as celebrating the traditional “kitchen garden” with locally-grown food.

  • Asthall Manor, Asthall, Burford. Open 12pm-6pm. Admission £7.50/£6 (free for under-12s).
