The showcase of snaps by recent UK graduates will run for two months, and feature international work from across the social spectrum by young photographers.

Martina Lindqvist’s Rågskär Island is a series of mysterious and unsettling landscapes of a small island off the coast of Finland which the 27-year-old used to visit each summer. Younger memories also inspire Kurt Tong’s People’s Park, a melancholic and wistful view of deserted communist-era parks from his childhood in China and Hong Kong.

James Pogson’s colourful Ladykillers, taking its title from an international women’s Thai kickboxing tournament, is a show which admits to being “garish” in line with the assertive combatants picked out.

Alice Myers’s Rocket captures the carefree exhilaration of children launching themselves through water, whilst the minimalist Untitled Series by Nicky Walsh contemplates mass-produced objects and sterile office environments.

“Impressions has always supported emerging photographers and shown new talent,” said the award's Director Sarah Read, who is proud of a heritage which saw the likes of Magnum photographer Martin Parr win the award almost 40 years ago.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to show the work of the five winners at this exciting stage in their career.”
