Exhibition Notice - Jerwood Photography Awards at Impressions Gallery from January 27 to March 29 2009.
Impressions gallery will be hosting a display of the winners of the prestigious Jerwood Photography Awards 2008.
The awards are given to photographers who have recently graduated and are funded by the Jerwood charitable foundation and supported by Portfolio Magazine.
The Jerwood Charitable Foundation is dedicated to responsible and imaginative funding of the visual and performing arts and other areas of human endeavour and excellence.
This year’s winners are Martina Lindqvist, Alice Myers, James Pogson, Kurt Tong and Nicky Walsh.
Over 5,000 photographs were submitted by 610 entrants, all recent graduates from UK visual art degree courses, resident in the UK and there was no age limit.
Acting Director Sarah Read said: "Impressions has always supported emerging photographers and shown new talent: Martin Parr, now one of the world’s best known living photographers, had his very first show at Impressions in 1972.
"We are delighted to have this opportunity to show the work of the five winners at this exciting stage in their career."
