This summer the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds will be displaying weapons and armour from some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters in recent years, including The Lord of the Rings and Hellboy.

The free exhibition From Narnia to Middle Earth: Arms and Armour from the Movies opens on July 12 2008 and will feature major film props, including Sauron's Helmet, Hellboy's pistol named 'The Samaritan' and Aragorn's fabled sword.

All of the 230+ props were made with contemporary techniques by Auckland's famous Oscar-winning Weta workshops, New Zealand, and while many millions saw the blockbuster movies, many have never seen the props in public before.

The Royal Armouries state that they are "proud to present a unique display of the actual arms and armour that Weta made for these epic movies."

All props are 'battle ready' and made to original standards.

As well as objects from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, the exhibition also includes weapons from the Chronicles of Narnia, The Last Samurai and King Kong. The exhibition ends on November 16 2008.
