Warrington Museum might not be the first place you would think of finding famous bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, but head there in the next couple of months and that’s what you’ll find.
The popular group is just one featuring in an exhibition of photographs by Shari Denson. ‘I don’t want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member’, as it is entitiled, runs until November 17 2007.
The collection of stunning images, all taken at indie gigs, includes subjects from REM to The Twang, Radiohead to Ian Brown, Franz Ferdinand, the Charlatans and the White Stripes.

Shari uses the perspective of the fan in all the shots, highlighting the passion and status of the performer on stage, and the feeling of being there and watching them.
“Shari has the knack of making ugly b*****s like me look cool,” says Guy Garvey of Elbow. “Plenty of photographers have an eye. It’s like Shari has two.”
She’s previously contributed images to music magazines NME, Plan B and Time Out Manchester.
“It’s a great exhibition and very much in keeping with our policy of appealing to as wide an audience as possible – we’ve already had a number of visitors who haven’t been to the Museum before, which is fantastic,” said Museum manager Janice Hayes.
