Rugby Art Gallery is embracing the murky and surreal world of an award-winning artist this March with a newly acquired work from the film artist Lindsay Seers as part of the annual exhibition of the Rugby Collection of 20th century and contemporary British Art.
The Trilogy, a work for three screens, two monitors and one projected work installed within a black cloth structure, was acquired thanks to the financial support of the Contemporary Art Society and the MLA / V&A Purchase Grant Fund.
It features Seers’ trademark mix of highly personal narratives combining concepts of science, philosophy and photographic theory.
Elements of the film triptych, which was developed at Matts Gallery in London, have been described by the Saatchi and Saatchi website as “one hell of a journey, full of rich visuals, extraordinary co-incidences and insightful critique.”
Seers’ combination of performance, film and installation is sure to leave its mark on viewers who often find themselves implicated in the construction of her dark narratives.
