The Campaign for Drawing, which honours the significance of drawing in society and encourages people to embrace the art of drawing in all its forms, is celebrating its 10th year with a host of exciting activities.

Its flagship event, The Big Draw, will take place during October. Thousands of events will also visit museums, galleries, schools and shopping centres around the UK to encourage everybody to experiment with drawing. To find your nearest event, visit the Campaign online.

For the first time a collection of works from previous years will be on display as Now We Are Ten takes place at the Idea Generation Gallery from September 8-20.

It will feature more than 100 works, including 60 new pieces which have been donated by well-known illustrators such as Quentin Blake, Posy Simmonds and Lord Foster, and pictures from other exceptional artists like Paula Rego and Chris Orr.

On September 12, Battle of the Cartoonists will be taking place in the gallery. Two teams of renowned illustrators from the Guardian and The Independent will face off in a battle of wits and pencils to create banners on a topical subject.

Spectators will be able to decide the winner, and previous entries will be on display for the duration of the exhibition.

There is also an opportunity to take home many of the pieces displayed in the exhibition in the Auction of the Decade, which will be held on September 17, with all proceeds going towards the campaign.

The gallery will host a series of Power Drawing workshops for schoolchildren during the exhibition run. The themes will be Changing Cities and Transports of Delight, challenging children to visualise cities of the future, using the gallery's surroundings for inspiration.

The campaign was started in 2000 by the Guild of St George, a small charity founded by John Ruskin to promote his belief that drawing is key to understanding and knowledge.
