“If students don’t encounter good art, they’ll never know how to recognise it,” explains David Heseltine, curator of the Truro School Art Collection which is now featuring in its first public exhibition.
The collection was originally collated by Heseltine while Head of Art at the independent school with the aim of inspiring pupils in their own artistic endeavours.

“I selected pieces for their educational, rather than commercial value,” says Heseltine, who led the department from 1976 to 2005 and continues to curate and add to the collection.
Focusing on post-war artistic activity in the county, the exhibition showcases the work produced by three main centres of excellence – St Ives, Newlyn and Falmouth – and represents students and established artists alike.
- Open 10am-4.45pm Tuesday-Saturday. Admission free.
