Reindeer and snowmen will be filling residents’ windows as part of a new live advent calendar project launched this week.
Residents will be taking it in turns to decorate a window of their house and unveiling it to the public every day throughout advent.
Householders of North and South Pallant in Chichester are taking part in the scheme run by Pallant House Gallery for the second year running.

The window with the most innovative display will be offered the chance of winning a bar pump coffee machine to help warm up the cold winter days.
A host of displays were created in last year’s competition and ranged from a carol-themed “seven swans a swimming” to a cotton wool Father Christmas.
“We were delighted so many people were involved last year, “ says Stefan van Raay, Director of Pallant House Gallery. “At this time of the year the area can be quite dark and unwelcoming in the evening and it was fantastic to see it brightened up by all the displays. We are hoping that this year we can make it look even more spectacular.”

Last year’s scheme was inspired by a similar project in Brighton which has been running since the 1990s.
Artist Mandie Saw, who is designing the window at Pallant House Gallery, is offering a free workshop at the gallery to help get participants into the festive spirit.
Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favourite window in person at the Gallery, by e-mailing advent@pallant.org.uk or telephoning 01243 770845. All votes must be cast by 6 January.
