Snibston takes a look back at weddings through the ages
In the year of William and Kate’s much-mooted impromptu Bank Holiday blow-out, the excuse to dust off a few spectacular wedding dresses in aid of a glamorous display is perhaps one of the most enjoyable by-products of the announcement.
Snibston have got 21 of them, with the earliest dating from 1780 and the latest poached straight from a 2006 edition.

Wedding fashions will be on display
“This is a fantastic exhibition that’s just in time for Valentine’s Day,” says David Sprason of Leicestershire County Council.
“It looks at the amazing changes over the last 200 years in wedding attire and importantly, it also looks at civil ceremonies.
“I would urge everyone to go to Snibston and take a look at the wonderful outfits on display. They could inspire couples for their own big event.”
- Open 10am-3pm (5pm Saturday and Sunday and all week after April 1)
