When artist Maria Harryman got to poke behind the scenes at the Trowbridge Museum, she discovered cases of cracked textiles.

The quilt is partly a response to the architecture of the Trowbridge and Steeple Ashton area

“I loved the shapes of fragments and the snippets of pattern and colour on each piece.”
They came from an old pub, the Rose and Crown, in nearby Steeple Ashton. Harryman has responded with a patchwork quilt which takes inspiration from the colours and architecture of the area in a new body of textile work.
Her solo exhibition is one of the highlights of the second year of a partnership between Cloth Road and the museum, and is accompanied by a programme of free family craft activities.
- Open Tuesday-Friday 10am-4pm (4.30pm Saturday). Admission free.
