
From Bengal to the banks of the Mersey, World Museum Liverpool’s recent continental commission has resulted in pieces of art as breathtaking as a trip down the Ganges.

On the 19th century subcontinent, patua picture makers would flit from town to town, spreading news of local heroes and epic battles between good and evil through the scrolls.
These ones tell both ancient and contemporary tales, highlighting important issues such as AIDS, women’s rights, the war in Afghanistan and the impact of tsunamis.
