Internationally renowned textile artist Kaffe Fassett is known for his dynamic use of colour. His bold, multicoloured knitwear, patchwork, needlepoint, paintings and ceramics have been exhibited around the world.

Now an array of bold rainbow patterned quilts by the American designer have gone on show in Wales for the first time, displayed alongside intricately stitched single colour antique Welsh wholecloths from the centre’s own collection in a contrast of traditional and modern.

The Welsh Quilt Centre acts as an archive of Welsh quilting and aims to promote a wider understanding of this regional art form.

It opened in the former Lampeter Town Hall in 2009 to house the collection of private collector Jen Jones.

Each year the centre holds an annual exhibition on an aspect of quilting in a national and international context.

  • Open Tuesday-Saturday 11am-4.30pm. Admission £5 (concessions available). Follow the centre on Twitter @JenJonesQuilts.
