Tight Modern, the temporary gallery-cum-shed boasting a canny resemblance to Britain's most visited modern art gallery, makes a welcome return to Brighton seafront this weekend for another stint highlighting the remarkable work of marginalised artists.

The brainchild of South East-based organisation Creative Futures, which works to empower marginalised artists and writers by giving them a platform for their work, the miniature replica of Tate Modern features the work of 50 artists in a gallery the size of a garden shed.

As well as laying claim to being the world’s smallest temporary art gallery, Tight Modern showcases inventive works of art created by artists from a variety of backgrounds – from day centres for people with learning difficulties to those who have developed their skills through workshops working for agencies like the Drug and Alcohol Dependency Unit.

This year organisers have added the Black Crayon Cafe, which will allow visitors to try their hand at creating a work of art for instant display. The sale of prints of the artwork on display also raises income for marginalised artists.

Visit Tight Modern on Saturday May 23 & Sunday May 24 2009, 11am - 6pm and Monday May 25, 11am - 4pm, next to the Kissing Statue, East Street Bastion, Brighton Seafront, Brighton. Find out more about the work of Creative Futures and view and buy prints of some of the artists featured in Tight Modern on the Creative Futures website
