Credit crunch art fair aims to bust the blues

A fair of pocket-pleasing art by contemporary artists who have used their work to combat mental illness opens tomorrow (May 12 2009) at Our Space Gallery in London.

The Really Affordable Charity Art Fair promises a "credit crunch and blues-busting" set of paintings, photographs and sculptures exploring the links between art, creativity and wellbeing in aid of mental health charity Together.

Nuala Hamilton, a contributor to the show, said photography had been "a huge help" in her struggle with depression. "It helps me in lots of different ways," she observed.

"Sometimes it's a way to connect with people, and sometimes it helps me notice things going on around me or it's a door to something new and interesting."
