Artists of all ages can hang their work alongside international portfolios at Tate Liverpool on Sunday (January 18).

Bring Your Own Art Day is inviting “doodlers, scribblers, art students, collectors, painters and sculptors” to add their favourite work to the International Festival events space, where it will stay for the rest of the day.

The 5th Floor has placed a heavy emphasis on audience participation

The event is part of the gallery’s vision of a gallery 'inspired by ideas and proposals from people across the city'.

Viewer-submitted efforts will join pieces including Rineke Dijkstra’s photos and videos of local schools and nightclubs and Paul Rooney’s film of bygone comic raconteurs in the sign-off show for the Capital of Culture campaign.

Visitors are also invited to bring a picnic

The exhibition’s reliance on work picked or created by Liverpudlians has met a mixed critical reception, and visitors will get the chance to form their own opinion if they stay for the middle part of the day. Between 2pm and 4pm they are encouraged to bring their own picnic and have lunch in the space.

Bring Your Own Art Day runs between 10am and 5pm. Contact the gallery for further details.
