Raised in Switzerland and schooled in Renaissance portraiture in Copenhagen, former Vivienne Westwood designer Magnus Gjoen – the artist spent six years with the brand – has re-imagined Genesis and the Resurrection in a modern light, calling his works “Exodus for Generation-X”.

Street, pop and fine art mediums inspire Gjoen, who says his take on tradition adds punk sensibility to old treasures.

Prints, sculptures and ceramics all feature, as do visions of religion, war, beauty, destruction and art. Rousing and foreboding, they add up, in the artist’s words, to a form of salvation for a godless generation.
