Festival: Spark Children's Arts Festival, various venues, Leicester, until June 10 2012

No excuses for pre-adolescent boredom in Leicester for the next week or two. The 10th year of Spark, aimed at under-14s, features street performers, a hat parade, “visually stunning antics” and a big band at New Walk Museum.
There’s a Retro Computer Museum (including Pac-Man and Space Invaders) at BBC Radio Leicester and a Little Artists Gallery at Pedestrian, where families can take a look at toddler interpretations of contemporary art and then create their own experimental numbers to hang on the wall.
Elsewhere, the Catherine Wheels Theatre Company explore how colour changes the world, author Julia Donaldson’s tales are brought to life in Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales, and the premiere of Dragon Breath Theatre’s adaptation of Gulliver’s Travels opens at Curve.
Live music and physicality at the African Caribbean Centre, spider-based funky musical storytelling and puppetry and digital film workshops are also on the bill, with ticket prices kept budget-friendly on a largely-free programme.
