We introduce the Connect10 artists taking part in the exciting new competition for Museums at Night 2012...

Martin Parr needs little introduction to anyone who has encountered his wry, acerbic adventures in storytelling during a 30-year photographic career.

Perhaps more than any other photographer, Parr has chronicled the changing face of England, from the sublime to the ridiculous via the mundane and morbid.

The Surrey-born artist knew he wanted to be a documentary photographer from a young age, going on to become a voracious collector of postcards and photos relating to popular culture.

He has spun his trademark subversive twist on these apparently innocuous items in more than 50 books and dozens upon dozens of exhibitions, using an eye for the acute which saw him inducted into the hallowed Magnum Photographers group at the beginning of the 1990s.

For Museums at Night this playful, provocative and restlessly experimental figure will be talking about his work and his career.
