Dinosaur Isle

Discover, Experience and Encounter – Dinosaur Isle is the first purpose built dinosaur attraction in the country where a walk back through geological time takes you to the lost world of the dinosaurs 125 million years ago.

Discover the skeletal remains as they are found by fossil hunters, encounter our palaeontologists working on the latest finds, experience the sounds and smells the dinosaurs may have encountered.

You will meet in the flesh the isle of Wight’s famous five dinosaurs Neovenator, Eotyrannus, Iguanadon, Hypsilophodon and the giant Sauropod. The building is shaped as a giant pterosaur - which mastered the Cretaceous skies.

Dinosaur tracks

  • 12 November 2016 12:30-2:30pm

The history of dinosaur finds on the Isle of Wight has been widely known from the discovery of thousands of their fossilised teeth and bones.

Perhaps not so well known is the record of their former presence from the hundreds of footprints and natural casts that have been found since the 1840's.

This walk will show examples of the preserved remains as natural casts and, if the conditions are right, in the shoreline platform at Hanover Point.

This walk (up to 2 hours) is suitable for children (bring a bucket for pebbles and small fossils). Wellington boots with grippy soles are advised.
