Museum, Ship or maritime heritage site
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard opens from 10am to 6pm (10am to 5:30pm November - March) throughout the year, except when closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. From April - October: Last tickets to the attractions are sold at 4.30pm and the Dockyard gates are closed at 6pm. From November - March: Last tickets to the attractions are sold at 4pm and the Dockyard gates are closed at 5.30pm.

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard welcomes all visitors. The site is, however, a working Naval Base and certain areas may present difficulties to visitors who use wheelchairs, with a restricted mobility or who are visually impaired. As a safety precaution, we ask that all these visitors are accompanied by a carer. Toilets for disabled visitors can be found in the Historic Dockyard Coach and Car Park, Boathouse No.7, Mary Rose Museum and the National Museum of the Royal Navy.

HMS M.33 Opens: The Theatre of Gallipoli

To commemorate the opening of HMS M.33, the sole remaining Royal Navy ship from the First World War’s Gallipoli campaign; Portsmouth based events companies, Big Adventures and Splodge Designs present ‘Theatre of Gallipoli’ with internationally acclaimed dance company Motionhouse who will perform alongside the historic ship on Thursday 6 August from 1pm.
Theatre of Gallipoli will take visitors through the opening events of the bloody, and for the Allies, disastrous campaign of Gallipoli. This journey of immersive theatre will explore the role that HMS M.33 played in the conflict through a fast paced and moving piece of street theatre , a drama piece on board HMS M.33 and a physical theatre and dance piece which incorporates Motionhouse’s amazing show ‘ Cascade’ re-imagined for The Theatre of Gallipoli.
The event features an array of local arts organisations such as Cop the Needle, Groundlings Theatre Company, Abstract Dance as well as workshop activity participants commissioned by The National Museum of The Royal Navy.
