Chedham's Yard enquiries
Discover this secret Wheelwrights, Blacksmiths and much more. Chedham's Yard is a prize-winning heritage site, restored and maintained by a hard working team of volunteers. Hidden away in Wellesbourne in Warwickshire it is a well-kept secret - a blacksmith's and wheelwright's workshop dating from the early 19th century. The Yard is crammed with tools, equipment and items made on site along with the materials to make them. The Yard has been restored with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and BBC Restoration after it beat churches, chapels and a gallery to win BBC Restoration Village in 2006.
Chedham's yard is open to groups by pre-arrangement, and to all on public opening days listed on the chedham's yard web site

- 13 September 2014

Take a fascinating volunteer-led guided tour (or audio tour) and discover a vanished rural way of life and have a go at putting together a cartwheel for yourself. In our new Visitor Centre - watch two short films about the history of the Yard - with footage of the wheelwright and blacksmith at work. This has all come about following the success of winning the BBC2 Restoration Village competition in 2006. You can also enjoy a refreshments - hot or cold and a piece of locally made cake at the Centre, where there's seating indoors and outside.
