The Golden Thread Gallery is Northern Ireland’s leading international contemporary art space, rooted in the local. The gallery offers residents and visitors to Belfast a diverse programme of high quality contemporary art exhibitions and participatory events. As one of Northern Irelands largest visual arts venues the Golden Thread Gallery acts as a platform for a mix of the very best international and local artists, hosting six large-scale exhibitions in the main gallery spaces and twelve exhibitions in its project space.

Wheelchair users – The gallery space is fully accessible for wheelchair users, with a ramp entrance and level landing. Blue Badge parking is available outside our venue, with a drop kerb. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet in our venue.

Exhibition guide – the gallery is happy to accommodate groups and offers guided gallery tours free of charge. Please contact the gallery at least one week in advance if you wish to make a booking. During gallery opening hours staff are here to answer your questions.

Large print version – exhibition panels and press releases are available, just ask a member of staff.

Golden Thread Gallery (GTG) is a medium-scale, publicly funded, contemporary art gallery based in Belfast that is recognised as having charitable status. It provides a welcoming space for the public to engage with contemporary visual art, and has grown steadily since it was founded in 1998. GTG is recognised for its engagement with recent histories and re-imagined futures: the majority of its programme is engaged with offering the public a contextual experience of the visual art of our time. GTG is a member of the Plus Tate network, a lead partner in the Draw-Down-the Walls collaboration and is accredited by Investors in People. Golden Thread Gallery (GTG) plays an important role in the provision of contemporary visual art in Belfast and Northern Ireland.
