The Water Tower is a unique Grade II-listed early 18th century garden building, sited in the grounds of Carshalton House in Surrey.

As the name suggests, this contained a water-powered pump, which supplied water to Carshalton House and the fountains in its garden. However, the building was and is much more than this as it contains a suite of rooms such as the Saloon, the Orangery and a splendid early 18th century bathroom with tile lined plunge bath.

The Historic Garden Trust includes the Hermitage and Folly Bridge.

  • 16 May 2015 From 7:30pm

The Friends of Carshalton Water Tower and Historic Garden Trust will open the early 18th century Water Tower on the evening of Saturday May 16th, in support of Museums at Night.

There will be a party to celebrate the refurbishment of the mid-eighteenth century Spring Head in the grounds of Carshalton House Estate. Apart from the Trust, the site is now shared with St Philomena's Catholic High School for Girls and St Mary's Catholic Junior School.

The entrance to the Water Tower is though the iron gate in the high towards the south end of West Street, Carshalton.

There are steps to access the Water Tower and there is no parking on site or in West Street but there is parking by the Ponds and in Carshalton which are very close to the Water Tower. Carshalton railway station is also near by as are buses.
