Electronic Voice Phenomena

Electronic Voice Phenomena

25 May 2013 *on now

Come and immerse yourself in a night of otherworldly wonder inspired by Konstantin Raudive’s famous 1970’s experiments which divined voices in electronic interference.

Part séance, part avant-garde cabaret, Electronic Voice Phenomena channels themes of otherness, the profane and the divine and features: distorted poetry, spectral noise and psychedelic glitch from Liverpool band, Outfit; the wickedly funny spoken word artist Ross Sutherland mining The Crystal Maze for feedback loops and moments of Jungian synchronicity; sharp-witted poet Hannah Silva channeling ghostly utterances from the past and experimental writer SJ Fowler playing Electric Dada through reconfigured recordings of Klezmer and German erotica.

This evening will make the intangible tangible and the spectral real - book now for an evening of multi-media exploration.

This event is part of the Norwich and Norfolk Festival.

Produced by Mercy and Penned in the Margins with funding from Arts Council England. Supported and presented by Writers’ Centre Norwich.

Admission

£10

Workout for the Novel with Kathy Page

14 June 2013

Kathy Page’s delight in language and keen interest in psychology and literature will inspire you to approach your work from a fresh new perspective. Through a series of carefully designed exercises Kathy will help you to rejuvenate your writing, whether you’re just beginning your novel, or in the middle of a project.

You’ll examine your novel through a series of lenses, focussing on the key components necessary to create a brilliant piece of work: concept, character, structure, story arc and setting. Kathy will encourage you to carefully consider your novel and your writing, and you will then be invited to discuss your work with your fellow participants.

As well as generating writing that could be used in your novel, you will also take a step back and appraise your writing from a more neutral viewpoint, which will give you a new view of your work.
