The Polish Boxer is the sparkling English debut from one of Latin America’s most exciting new voices, Eduardo Halfon. This personal and inviting set of stories has already impressed opinion leaders across the world. Halfon’s personal style invites speculation and the reader is never sure whether they’re reading memoir or fiction. It doesn’t much matter however, as what’s on the page is always a moving account of a young man’s attempt to find some kind of truth. Come and immerse yourself in a night of otherworldly wonder inspired by Konstantin Raudive’s famous 1970’s experiments which divined voices in electronic interference.

Part séance, part avant-garde cabaret, Electronic Voice Phenomena channels themes of otherness, the profane and the divine and features: distorted poetry, spectral noise and psychedelic glitch from Liverpool band, Outfit; the wickedly funny spoken word artist Ross Sutherland mining The Crystal Maze for feedback loops and moments of Jungian synchronicity; sharp-witted poet Hannah Silva channeling ghostly utterances from the past and experimental writer SJ Fowler playing Electric Dada through reconfigured recordings of Klezmer and German erotica.

This evening will make the intangible tangible and the spectral real - book now for an evening of multi-media exploration.

Pitching your work to a literary agent can often be an intimidating and nerve-wracking process. This Masterclass with Juliet Pickering will help allay your fears and give you a head-start.

Juliet will give you a nuts and bolts overview of the process of getting published. The talk will guide you through the early stages of publication, including writing your first query letter and the perfect synopsis, to the later stages of finding the right agent to represent you and sending your book to editors. Juliet will even summarise what to expect from a royalty statement, meaning that you will be thoroughly prepared for all eventualities when you begin your journey to publication.

After the discussion, you’ll also have the opportunity to ask Juliet any pressing questions. In the afternoon, you will benefit from a 20 minute individual feedback session with Juliet, where you’ll be able to discuss your work and receive tailored advice on how to improve your pitch.
