Canterbury Environmental Education Centre (C.E.E.C) is run in partnership with Kent County Council and National Grid and has been providing fascinating and fun days out for school groups for over 30 years. The centre is now open to the general public in school holidays from April to October, so that everyone can enjoy this unique urban oasis. The 12 hectare site has been described by a former head of centre as a 'place where you can see the best and most diverse piece of countryside within the City of Canterbury.' With its extensive gravel pits, wetlands, woodland and grassland the site is a refuge for protected wildlife such as dormice, great crested newts and at least 3 species of bat, as well as less common species of orchid and other flora.
