Arnos Vale Cemetery is one of the earliest and most important working Victorian cemeteries in the UK.

Arnos Vale lies close to Bristol's city centre on the A4 Bath Road, at Brislington. Pedestrians have a choice of three entry points - from the Bath Road; from Cemetery Road (off the A37 Wells Road) or via Arnos Park. The nearest train station is Temple Meads, located just under a mile east of the site. Bus services 1, X39, 57, 178 and 349 stop outside the Bath Road gates. There is parking for bicycles at the back of the Visitor Reception (East Lodge). Parking on site is limited and vehicles must enter via Bath Road.

East Lodge: Visitor Reception and Gift Shop provide all the introductory information you need for a visit to Arnos Vale. External ramp provides wheelchair access up the listed building's steps.

West Lodge: Exhibition on ground floor "The Creation of Arnos Vale" including exhibition films, tactile map, historic artefacts and Books of Remembrance. External ramp for wheelchair access.

Spielman Centre: Stunning conversion of the historic Nonconformist Chapel into a fully-accessible learning and community space with a glass atrium. Exhibition "Behind the Scenes" in the historic crematorium basement explores the history of cremation, including some historic artefacts such as a coffin lift, furnace, coffin bier and cremulator.
Visitor WCs are to be found in the basement, accessible by stairs or lift.
Community learning space and cafe are on the ground floor, with lovely outdoor terrace for sunny seating.

Anglican Chapel: Beautiful restored Victorian interior with fine acoustics. The location for our popular evening events including concerts, talks and theatre.

"Taster Tours" Guided Tours at Arnos Vale

For impromptu taster tours between now and 2013 please enquire at the East Lodge reception on Saturdays about volunteer guide availability for the day. To arrange a bespoke group tour please look at our Private Tours page. Join our mailing list to be the first to hear about public tours and events at Arnos Vale in 2013.

A short taster tour taking in the main landmarks, monuments and people of Arnos Vale. This is an ideal introduction to the 45-acre site for first-time visitors, or as an overview of the site's history for regular visitors.

Please check with the East Lodge reception on the day to confirm that a tour is running. Then simply turn up, buy a ticket, and go!

Please wear sensible shoes and warm waterproof clothing to this event.

Arnos Vale Cemetery is not a fully accessible site. This tour route may include some steep slopes, steps and muddy paths. Find out more about visiting Arnos Vale safely.

The cost from March 2013 is £5 per head (no concessions) and there is no need to book! Tickets are sold from the East Lodge shop on the day.
