Highlights of Ashridge Walks

  • 11 October 2014 10am-1pm

Discover some of the highlights of the Ashridge Estate on a series of walks led by volunteer rangers Kath, Arthur and Mike. Each walk is about 6 miles in length and starts from the Visitor Centre at 10am and returns about 1pm. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Please wear walking boots and clothes appropriate to the weather, also bring a drink and a snack if you wish.

All walks start from the Ashridge Visitor Centre. Each walk takes in a different area of the Estate.

Killerton Woods

Gentle Strolls

  • 15 October 2014 10:30am-12:30pm

The strolls may take up to 2 hours, are open to all and you don't need to pre-book them. Easier, more level routes are selected except in the Steps Hill area where hills cannot be avoided. No need to book, just turn up.

Meet at B4506 end of Monument Drive.

Fallow Deer Rut

  • 17 — 20 October 2014

On this very popular wildlife walk it is often possible to see males locking horns, calling females and scent marking during the rut. Ticket includes a hot drink and breakfast bap after the walk.

Please wear sensible walking shoes and bring warm waterproof clothing just in case.

Ashridge and its Deer - Talk and Tea

Join us for a fascinating insight into the history of the Ashridge Estate and the deer that have lived here since Norman times. The illustrated talk will be followed by a delicious country tea.

Family Deer Walk

First World War Walk

Join our Regional Archaeologist to discover the scars left by the First World War on the landscape of Ashridge.

Ashridge Uncovered: Commons

  • 29 November 2014 1-3pm

Join us to discover the significance of the commons to the shaping of Ashridge's human and environmental history, and dispel some myths associated with commons. The walk will finish at the visitor centre in time for a scone and cup of tea.

Please come dressed for the weather with good walking shoes and a drink if the weather is particularly warm.
