All information is drawn from or provided by the venues themselves and every effort is made to ensure it is correct. Please remember to double check opening hours with the venue concerned before making a special visit.

Wimbledon and District Synagogue was founded in 1949 and housed from 1952 in Worple Road until it relocated to its current premises in 1997.

We now have a membership drawn from most areas in south west London. The Synagogue is a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism (now the MRJ and formerly the RSGB) and is entirely supported by its members through membership fees and donations.

Through the work of the school visits team our Synagogue fulfils the role of an educational resource to the outside world. It does this by playing host to children and their teachers drawn from all over South London and the southern home counties, providing them with a basic understanding of Jewish religious worship.

Group Visit Programme

http://www.wimshul.org/default.asp?id=70

A typical visit to the synagogue usually includes a general introduction and undressing and dressing a Sefer Torah (the scrolls). We may read a story, display and discuss artefacts, decorate Kippot and bookmarks, show and discuss the Shabbat Table, and play Hanukkah games. We can also explain basic Hebrew, our Holy Books and festivals, explain how the Sefer Torah is written, and even explain a demonstration Seder.
Visits last about an hour and a half and will be tailored to your school or group’s age and expectations.

How to obtain
