Manchester Buddhist Centre is run by members of the Western Buddhist Order and has been offering Buddhism and meditation in Manchester since 1977. In 1996 we reopened in the Northern Quarter of Manchester, in a Victorian cotton warehouse converted by Buddhist volunteers.
Meditation and Buddhism courses run all year. On the second floor are Bodywise Natural Health Centre and meeting rooms for hire. The award-winning Earth Cafe is situated in the basement.
The Buddhist Centre’s popular education service is run by the Clear Vision Trust, housed in the same building. Clear Vision make all the teaching materials listed here.
Venue Type:
Industrial heritage site, Sacred space
Additional info
All information on educational services and classroom teaching materials for Buddhism may be found at www.clear-vision.org.
In particular, the DVD Buddhist Centre in the City offers a virtual tour of the Manchester Buddhist Centre for 8-14 year-olds. (Details below.)
Disabled access: pending funding we regret there is no alternative to the six steps up to the front door (handrails both sides). Once in, there is a disabled-accessible toilet and lift access to all floors.
