The Woodland Trust

The Woodland Trust (the Trust) is the largest woodland conservation charity in the United Kingdom (UK) concerned with the protection, restoration and creation of native woodland heritage. It has over half a million supporters and has planted over 30 million trees since its inception in 1972. The Trust ensures free public access to its woods, which currently number over 22,500 hectares across 1,000 sites.

The Centenary Woods (First World War) Programme of activity encompasses a diverse range of projects including the creation of four dedicated Centenary Woods, engaging over 100 individual landowners to plant a First World War wood, providing schools and communities with free trees to tracing the Verdun Oaks.
