The Watermill is a unique development, bringing together the largest bookshop in the rural Highlands, contemporary art gallery, music and coffee shop. All this is located in a stunning Grade-A listed former watermill set in Aberfeldy in the beautiful Perthshire Highlands. The Watermill was opened by Michael Palin in May 2005. In May 2006 we won the award for Scottish Independent Bookshop of the Year. The conversion of The Watermill has won architectural and design awards and acolades. If you are travelling to or through the Highlands, The Watermill is a ‘must visit’. If you live in Glasgow or Edinburgh, we are within 90 minutes’ drive. Via the website you can have a virtual look around all three floors of The Watermill.
Mon-Sun 10.00-17.00 (17.30 in Summer). Opens 11.00 on Sundays.
At The Watermill we believe that it is vital to nurture good reading habits in children. That’s why we have a special room dedicated to children’s books. Children are encouraged to browse. Members of our weekly Reading Groups for children aged 6-12 years take about three weeks to read a book so if you are interested in join a Reading Group we recommend you ring us to check out times, books and start dates.
