The Glass-House is a registered charity that supports and encourages better working partnerships between communities and professionals who are working together to improve the quality of a neighbourhood. The Glass-House works nationally, offering design advice, training and project support to projects focusing on neighbourhoods, housing, public space, community buildings, play areas and facilities for young people.
Since 2001, The Glass-House has supported a community led design process that ensures that regeneration is happening with and for, not to local people.
Our objectives are to:
Provide communities with the tools to lead the design process
Give design, housing and regeneration professionals the tools to work more effectively with user groups on the design of regeneration projects that affect them
Promote a wider understanding and practice of community led design
Put design at the top of the agenda
We offer free design training for community groups working on regeneration projects that include play areas, open spaces, housing and community buildings. This training is delivered throughout the year and can be provided for groups locally.
