Situated just off the Birmingham main line canals, the centre gives visitors an insight into some of the most important civil engineering feats in the area.
As well as our displays and exhibitions at the main Heritage Centre site we also look after the New Smethwick Pumping Station and the original site of James Watt and Matthew Boulton's Smethwick Engine.
We organise a lively programme of events throughout the year, and run holiday workshops for children. Pre booked guided walks for groups are available at a small charge.
Venue Type:
Museum, Industrial heritage site
Additional info
The New Smethwick Pumping Station and the original site of the Smethwick Engine are only open to the public by appointment or through one of the Heritage Centre's guided walks or events. Please contact us for details on access to these buildings.
