"Divination" is a traveling exhibition, held in artists' run spaces in a number of European cities.
Divination is a word that exists in English, French and German languages carrying the same meaning, that of deducing information about possible present and future scenarios and the mental states of others through codes, signs or omens. In German the word has an additional meaning - that of "Konjektur" - a speculative method used in text restoration.
The series of shows aims to explore both of these meanings, as well as the ritualistic and social character that divinatory activity implies; which in many ways parallels the processes of art production. To quote Lewis Carroll "It's a poor sort of memory that only works backward".
The artists exhibiting are from different cultures and backgrounds and when travelling carry their diverse cultural baggage with them.
