The Museum of Technology The Great War & WW11 incorporates a very small period in history, in which the technological revolution took place. All the items on display represent the evolution of electrical, electronic, and warfare advances around 1850 - 1980. Our collection of early technology ranges from the very earliest electrical experiments to a selection of induction coils, which can be demonstrated.

Museum loan boxes for Reminiscence

The Museum of Technology in patnership with Hertfordshire Museums offers a Reminiscence Loan Box Scheme.
The loan boxes can be used as memory prompts, ideally for the use of carers with older people in care.
Our boxes contain a collection of replica and genuine artefacts, documents and pictures, everything is designed for respectful handling.

"New & Old"- comparing technology loan box

A Loan Box which shows the development of telephones, cameras and gramophones, in our experiance, being able to touch and feel the artefacts encourages debate and a greater understanding of how these items were used during the 1940's, 50's, 60's and 80's

Schools Loan Boxes WWII

The loan boxes are aimed at primary school children and the contents of the boxes relate to The Second World War. All the items can be handled, teachers notes are provided along with photos of the artefacts, all of which are original.

The museum has a gallery on the E2BN website, which include Domestic equipment, WW1 & WW2, Photography, Gramophones and Weapons.
Thanks to a grant from the MLA Strategic Commissioning "Learning Links" we have been able to film many of our working artefacts, these too have been put onto E2BN with links from our own website, being able to look at and hear how old gramophones and telephones were used is a great resource for teachers wanting to explain old technology to their pupils.
