Hampshire Library Service is responsible for all public library spaces and Discovery Centres owned by Hampshire County Council. With nearly 50 branches, the venues offer a range of buildings and facilities, and the potential for many different events, courses, workshops and exhibitions.

Winchester Discovery Centre is part of a new generation of libraries, run by Hampshire County Council. It houses a public library, two galleries, a performance hall, cafe and learning spaces. The Centre hosts events throughout the day and evening, with a licenced bar and professional performance and technical areas.

Basingstoke Discovery Centre also contains a public library, café and an exhibition space and also hireable Community Room, Business Room, Meeting Room and Interview Room.

Gosport Discovery Centre contains a public library, café and exhibition space plus a Conference Room, IT Learning Suite, Small Meeting Room.

David Brown

A Remarkable Man

Through the words of those who knew David Brown and his exceptional contribution to the arts, this is the intriguing story of a remarkable man, collector and curator.

Major artists from the 20th century are represented in this outstanding private collection of works, left as a bequest to Southampton City Art Gallery.

The eclectic selection features work by Roger Fry, Gilbert & George, Richard Long, Roger Hilton and Howard Hodgkin to name a few, and provides a thought-provoking glimpse into a rare vision and lasting legacy.

Fiction For All Tastes

Do you enjoy hearing about books and the writing process? Are you an avid reader looking to discover new authors? Or perhaps an aspiring writer hoping to publish your own stories or novel?
Fiction for All Tastes is a panel of three authors, writing in very different genres, who will discuss their latest books and share their tips on the writing process, the ideas behind their books, using a pseudonym and getting published. Led by Angela Hicken, Literature Development Officer for the Hampshire Cultural Trust, there will be the opportunity for book signing at the end of the evening.

Abi, Melanie and Helen are all award winning authors. As Annie Murray, Abi is one of the top 100 most borrowed of adult authors and both Melanie and Helen have had work broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

Austen Sisters
