Leicester Print Workshop has a passion for printmaking.
They promote, sustain and advance fine art printmaking as a contemporary visual art form; as a craft; as a focus for exhibitions and commissions; in schools, with community groups, to artists and to the general public.
They make a creative impression and a meaningful contribution to visual arts in the Midlands.
Leicester Print Workshop was first established in 1986 and became a registered charity in 1993. They are an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation (NPO).

Twilight Session: Printmaking introduction and refresher for educators

To complement our workshops in schools we offer art teachers and technicians a termly 3 hour session designed to provide an opportunity to learn new skills or revisit old ones, in a sociable environment.
Take your choice, experiment with lino, drypoint, collagraph and take away some ideas that can be adapted to your own learning enviroment.
Screenprinting and Stencils

This course will start at basic level, then, after some initial planning you will begin to build your print by applying layers of colour to create your final image. Extra dates added on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February due to popular demand. Book now to avoid disappointment!

Solar Plate is a photo-etching process using photopolymer plates that are developed and ‘etched’ in water. A simple process that captures very fine detail and can produce beautiful prints from photographic or drawn imagery.
During this day course you will learn how to apply your design by exposing and developing the plate, then ink and print your own photo etchings.

This course covers photographic and painterly silkscreen techniques. After attending this course you will have a basic knowledge of silkscreen printing and the confidence to develop further.

This weekend workshop will introduce participants to the various techniques of lithography. The course will include drawing and printing directly from stone, working on transfer paper, and a basic introduction to photo-plate lithography.
The course is suitable for artists new to the process, printmakers wishing to refresh their skills in the medium, or curators and collectors wishing to learn more about how artists’ lithographs are produced.

Discover the versatility of this popular relief print technique. This course will introduce the basic skills of linocut from designing your image, cutting your block and printing. In addition you will have the opportunity to experiment with mark making, colour and collage.

Silk Aquatint Collagraphs

This weekend course introduces the technique of silk aquatint collagraphs. Rich velvet blacks and a complete tonal range can be achieved using chiffon as a base and experimenting with acrylic mediums and glue to create tones and white.
The process can be extended by using filler to produce rich, textural plates. The tonal results of this technique are similar to that of a mezzotint or traditional etched aquatint. This intaglio process is accessible to printmakers looking for a sophisticated way of working with collagraphs.

Experiments with Textile Screenprinting

Delivered by two experienced textile printmakers this course will include a full introduction to textile silkscreen and to a range of techniques designed to develop your creative ideas.
Techniques will include: creating interlocking designs for repeat, using drawn and photographic imagery and applying heat press techniques such as foiling, flocking and puff binder. You will create samples and a length of fabric suitable for small furnishings. This 3 day course is suitable for beginners and established printmakers alike.
