WHO WE ARE
A grass roots project Thetford Remembers 1914 - 1918 designed to commemorate
Thetford’s distinctive experience of World War One. The project has received
funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Managed through Norfolk Museum Service, Thetford Remembers 1914 – 1918 will
help form part of the wider commemorations in the county and nationwide.
WHAT WE DO
Working with community partners across Thetford, this inspiring and multi-faceted
project will create exhibitions, family activities, a publication, drama, musical and
poetry events and a schools programme. The project focuses on the story of
Thetford’s people on the eve of the First World War and during the first two years of
conflict both at home and overseas. Thetford Remembers 1914 - 1918 will provide a
distinctive local dimension to the international commemorations and will challenge
preconceptions about the period by looking at its impact on the townspeople.
