St Mary Redcliffe Church

St Mary Redcliffe Church is a treasure of international importance. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture soaring walls, crowned with a ceiling of glittering gilded roof bosses of exquisite beauty, flooded with light from the vast clerestory and stained glass windows.

All are welcome in this beautiful Christian church. Come to experience the peace, worship, pray, reflect, explore the history, marvel at the skills of those who built it and delight in the lovely things to see here.

There has been a church on this site since Saxon times and it was once the daughter church of the Bede Minster (the monastery church of St John the Baptist). The present building is probably the fifth church to be built here. The oldest surviving parts date from 1185, the Lady Chapel, south porch and south transept date from the 14th century and most of the other parts were built in the 15th century.
