University of Cambridge Museums is a consortium of the eight University Museums, which works in partnership with Cambridge University Botanic Garden.

The University's collections are a world-class resource for researchers, students and members of the public representing the country’s highest concentration of internationally important collections, all within walking distance of the City Centre.

In April 2012 the University of Cambridge Museums were awarded Major Partnership Funding from Arts Council England to support its ambitious three-year Connecting Collections programme. The programme focuses on unlocking the University’s collections, and the research activities which underpin them, for a larger and more diverse audience.

Summer at the Museums

  • 24 July — 3 September 2014 *on now

From taking part in a night time bat walk at Cambridge University Botanic Garden, building rockets at Cambridge Museum of Technology or meeting a Stone Age man at the Norris Museum, this year’s Summer at the Museums Calendar is full of events and activities to keep everyone entertained. Whether it’s something to do on a rainy day, a day out close to home or good old fashioned family fun, there are over 100 activities to choose from throughout the summer holidays.
Whatever’s happening, the amazing collections across our local museums make them the perfect place to visit at any time. FREE from all participating venues and full of fun tips and activities, our Summer at the Museums Scrapbook will help you explore and describe all your favourite finds: try discovering some incredible masks at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, find out about 1940s farming life at the Farmland Museum or imagine life as a prisoner in Ely Museum’s historic Gaol.

To be the first to pick up a Calendar and Scrapbook (and try a taster of what’s on offer) join us in the Make & Create Tent at the Big Weekend on Parker’s Piece, 5 July, 12 – 5.30pm.

If you are out and about, Calendars and Scrapbooks will also be available from all participating museums and collections, or can be downloaded from
