Europeana Collections 1914-1918 will create by 2014 – the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War – a substantial digital collection of material from national library collections of ten libraries and other partners in eight countries that found themselves on different sides of the historic conflict.

A Century of War Poetry with Owen Sheers, Sabrina Mahfouz, and Andrew Motion

Poet and writer Owen Sheers introduces an evening of readings, from the First World War poetry of Ivor Gurney and Isaac Rosenberg to Owen’s own recent verse drama Pink Mist about soldiers serving in Afghanistan and the families who are left behind. With special guests poets Andrew Motion and Sabrina Mahfouz, and using original recordings, Owen explores an alternative canon of war poetry.
