The Impact of the Great War

  • 12 March — 19 October 2015 *on now

This exhibition examines how the events of 1914-1918 impacted on the lives of staff and students of Leicester Municipal Technical and Art School, a predecessor of DMU.

Visitors will discover how courses were created specifically for soldiers coming home from the conflict to help them return to daily life, and how a teacher in the engineering department contributed to secret Admiralty research to destroy enemy submarines. The exhibit explains the many ways staff, students and the university community contributed to the wider war effort and commemorates those who were lost.
