Salonika Campaign Society

the logo of the Salonika Campaign Society, 1915-1918

The Salonika Campaign Society was formed to promote interest in the Salonika campaign, fought in northern Greece, Serbia and Albania during 1915-1918.

It aims to perpetuate the memory of those of all nations who served, whether they were members of the armed forces, medical services or civilian staff. The Society does not seek to glorify war and is neither politically nor commercially motivated.

We have members in all parts of the UK, across Europe and further afield. Whatever your interest in this neglected campaign, you will be made welcome. Join now to help us mark the centenary years.

Salonika Campaign Society Annual Meeting & Wreath Laying

  • 10 October 2015 11:30am-5pm

The dates of centenary commemorations in Greece mean that the Society's wreath-laying and annual meeting in London - which usually take place on the first Saturday in October - will be on Saturday 10 October 2015. Allied troops started to land in Salonika (now Thessaloniki) on 05 October 1915, so this meeting is especially significant as it coincides with the centenary of the start of the Salonika campaign. Given the huge impact of malaria on the campaign, it is appropriate that the subject this year is "Malaria - The Salonika Campaign and Advances in Prevention and Treatment", by Colonel David Ross of the Royal Army medical Corps.
