The City of London's flagship lending library with books, audio books, e-books, DVDs, music CDs and scores available for loan. Particular strengths in music, finance, arts and children's services. Public PCs offer Internet access, Microsoft Office programs, scanning and printing facilities. There is an active events programme including literature and music events, monthly art exhibitions, children's activities and reader development promotions.
The library is fully accessible by wheelchair and offers a variety of access facilities including hearing induction loops and options for magnifying screen and text.
Membership is free and available to all.

Barbican Library Cityread London 2015 Launch

Come along to a lunchtime celebration to launch a month of Cityread events. Chat to staff about the chosen book "Rivers of London" by Ben Aaronovitch, find out about related events over a glass of wine, enter our quizzes and enjoy a live performance of "Mr Punch Loses the Plot".

London's River: the City's Ebb and Flow

Guided walk along the Thames, starting from the City Information Centre, St Paul's Churchyard, EC4M 8BX. Lasts approx. 1hr 45 minutes.
The Thames is London's lifeblood. It has brought prosperity and security, but also deadly disease. A highway, water source and playground, its banks are lined with innovative structures (Millennium Bridge, Globe Theatre, Tate Modern) which tell the story of the City's past and present.

Rivers of London: the World of Ben Aaronovitch

Come along to an entertaining talk, Question & Answer session and book signing by London-born author and scriptwriter Ben Aaronovitch. Ben, who in a past life has written scripts for Doctor Who and Casualty, is best known for his popular urban fantasy series "Rivers of London".

Parched City: a History of London's Drinking Water

Author Emma Jones gives a talk about how perceptions of London's drinking water have changed as the city has evolved.
