Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days: Young Heritage Photographer

  • 10 — 12 September 2015

Gosport children from 5-13 years of age will display photo’s that tell us about what ‘heritage’ means to them. Entries have been extended to individual youngsters (rather than only school groups) and closing date is now 31st Aug. Email photos@gosportheritage.co.uk for entry.
You get a chance to participate in the judging when the shortlisted images go onto our Facebook page from 4th to 6th September.

The photos from all finalists will be displayed in pride of place on the wall at The Discovery Centre for everyone to view, from 10 -12 September. In fact, all other entries will also be displayed in photo albums so visitors can see the full range of art work.

The Mayor will be giving out prizes to the winners on Thursday 10 September at 1700 so we hope that lots of the children, proud parents and friends will come along to celebrate heritage through the eyes and lenses of our young photographers.

Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days: Written in Water: Portait of a Town

  • 10 — 12 September 2015

A unique opportunity to experience the past and present of Gosport through sound, exploring the town's distinctive character and maritime history using spoken word, local and archive recordings and original musical composition. Many Gosport residents and community groups contributed reminiscences and stories to the project, making it a truly local experience. Layers of virtual sound hang invisibly above the landscape, accessible with our GPS-connected handsets or Android phones. Listeners are invited to embark on soundwalks around Gosport to enter the fluid, ever-changing virtual soundscape: literally music you can walk inside. Just borrow a handset from Gosport Discovery Centre with your library card.
