St Michael and all Angels, Stanton Long is a small stone 13th Century church, nestling in the Shropshire hills between Wenlock Edge and the Brown Clee.

The area itself is an area of outstanding natural beauty and the church in its setting is quite idyllic bringing to mind A E Houseman's poem The Shropshire Lad.

Heritage Open Days 2014: St Michael's Church

Built by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1867 when the Anglican Movement was at its height, and recently re-ordered, with the addition of a prayer labyrinth based on a design from Abingdon Abbey.

Heritage Open Days 2014: St Michael's Church

A fire destroyed the roof in 2011, but the walls and a lot of the features remain. For Heritage Open Days volunteers will be on hand to talk about the history of the church and its future. Tea and cake for sale.
