The Borthwick Institute for Archives is one of the biggest archive respositories outside London. During our 50 year history we have collected archives from all around the world, from the 12th century to the present day. Every year we welcome thousands of visitors to use our archive materials.
Our Searchroom Reception and Original Document Reading Room are open Monday-Friday 09:15-16:45. Our Microform Room is open during University Library opening hours. To contact the searchrooms ring (01904) 321166. Although an appointment is not essential we do get very busy sometimes, especially in the microform room. We advise booking if you want to guarantee a space, especially if you are travelling a distance to visit us.
